1982 Repco Team Hotfoot

After building the '85 Team Hotfoot, I knew immediately that I would have to get an '82 Team. These bikes came with an impressive parts list when new - Sugino cranks, Sugino chainring, SR stem, SR pedals and Dia Compe MX1000 brakes and Tech 2 calipers - on a relatively light full CrMo frame. After being outbid on a frame locally by Mr.Hotfoot, I tracked down this bike in Queensland where it had originally been sold by Oxley bicycles.

I decided to build this as closely to the original specifications as possible. It has taken me a long time to collect the right parts but I am glad I waited and did not rush the build. I am still looking for a set of blue Grab Ons MX2 grips to complete the build!

The frame and forks were in reasonable condition but had rust in the gusset and around the bottom bracket area. Rob of Star Plating in Bayswater did a fantastic job polishing and chroming the frame, forks and cranks and the result is probably better than the original job done in the '80s.
