Press Play on Tape is a collaboration between two old-school gamers. There is nothing we like more than a simple but addictive game like those we grew up with and played on our Commodores and Apples.
Our games are all open-source and target two platforms that embrace this culture: the Arduboy and the Pokitto.
The Arduboy is a very limited device with a black and white, 128 x 64 pixel screen and minimal memory. It is these limitations that make developing for it so challenging. How do you create an interesting game with such limitations?
The Pokitto ups the ante a little with a 220x176 pixel, 256 colour screen and more memory. This extra capability allows us to enhance the games though often it is a struggle to stop feature-creep and focus on completing the game!

PPOT produdly announces Scrambler, a remake of the classic Scramble. Fly your ship through a canyon while avoiding enemy rockets, surface to air missiles and other obstacles. Refuel by bombing the fuel depots or by hitting flying fuel cans.

1nvader is a one or two-player game played with one button, one laser, one 1nvader, and one life. Play co-operatively, or competitively with a friend, or face the 1nvader alone.
May 20, 2022 - OBS (One Button Shooter)
Your ship has been damaged by some space debris. The steering is broken and you cannot navigate. You discover that by firing the laser you can steer …sort of! Avoid the asteroids and enemy ships and fly home.
Not to be confused with IBS, OBS picks up where 1nvader left off! Play with just one button and one button only.
